On the night of December 22nd, someone left Mam Nata in front of IAPA. She is currently around 8 weeks pregnant and is expected to give birth soon.
Upon discovery by Instituto Amor em Patas (IAPA), the poor dog was in an extremely fragile state and was unable to stand. She was also very fearful and it took some time for the IAPA volunteers to calm her down. The reason for her abandonment was due to her owner’s fear of her approaching litter. When the shelter volunteers first laid eyes on her, she was fiercely protective of her unborn puppies and used all her energy to keep them away. However, as time passed, she began to let her guard down and became more sociable. One volunteer commented on how many babies could be inside her belly, estimating around 13 or 14. An ultrasound was scheduled for Natajuli to ensure everything was going smoothly. Despite her weakened state, Natajuli successfully delivered all 14 adorable puppies with the aid of the shelter staff.
Natajuli and her litter of 14 adorable puppies recently visited the vet for a brief examination, including an ultrasound and blood work. Natajuli seemed a bit embarrassed during the visit. However, her puppies were in excellent health and appeared to be well-fed and thriving. The sight of their tiny paws and wagging tails brought tears to the eyes of the observer who could not resist the urge to cuddle and smooch them.
“I completely blanked on giving these 14 adorable little beings a name! It’s going to be quite the challenge to come up with something fitting. If you’re feeling creative, feel free to suggest a name that you love in the comments below!”
