A little kitty who was blind and lost was discovered wandering the roads. He had an interesting habit of embracing every cat he came across. After five months, his desires were finally granted!

There was an orange kitten that was found wandering alone on the streets and was rescued by a kind-hearted person. Upon examination at the veterinary clinic, they discovered that the kitten had microphthalmia, which means that his eyes were unusually small, causing him to be mostly blind. His vision was limited to only one eye with minimal sight in the other, enabling him to see only light and shadows. As a result of his traumatic experience, he was anxious and needed a lot of support and affection. The veterinarian contacted Best Friends Felines, a local rescue group, in anticipation of finding him a caring foster home.
The next day, a volunteer from Best Friends Felines took him into their care, and they soon discovered that he was fond of being around other felines.
Upon being discovered as a visually impaired stray, Amigo was placed under the care of a foster home run by bestfriendsfelines. There, he made fast friends with a group of cats, including Smokey, by cuddling up to them in his timid nature. Despite his limited vision, Amigo adapted well to his new surroundings and displayed an affinity for his fellow feline companions. Nikki, the rescue’s president, noted that Amigo remained shy but loved spending time with other cats.
As soon as he arrived, he was drawn to his feline friends and enjoyed snuggling with them, according to @bestfriendsfelines. Even though he sometimes bumped into objects while exploring, he remained unfazed as long as he had a cat companion nearby. “He handles everyday life exceptionally well. He runs and plays like any other kitten, effortlessly locating his food and water, and he never misses a beat when it comes to using his litter box,” they added.
@bestfriendsfelines shared that despite being visually impaired, the cat is still able to jump and climb onto different surfaces such as the couch, bed, and cat tree. However, instead of jumping down like a typical cat, he chooses to climb down backwards. Recently, the tabby boy climbed up a cat tree and settled in for a much-deserved nap.
Like other cats, Amigo is playful and likes to climb, according to bestfriendsfelines. Although he may get startled by sudden sounds or movements, he becomes content when snuggled up with another cat and starts to purr. As he has aged, Nikki has noticed that he has become more self-assured.
Amigo had formed a strong bond with Cara, a feline who was born with incomplete eyelid margins. They loved spending time together at Best Friends Felines. However, it had been five long months since Amigo arrived at the shelter, and he was still waiting for his forever home. The adoption process was even more challenging for a special needs cat like Amigo, who was also timid and hesitant around strangers. It required a unique family that was dedicated, patient, and willing to take a chance on a cat they couldn’t even touch during a meet-and-greet.
Amigo was in foster care for approximately five months, eagerly waiting for his forever home. Fortunately, Kelly and Louie, who had previously adopted from the same rescue organization, stumbled upon Amigo and knew he would be a perfect fit for their 8-month-old cat Basil. Like Amigo, Basil was found on the streets and brought to the rescue for a chance at a better life. Although Basil exudes confidence and energy, he also loves snuggling and kneading with his paws.
Basil from Best Friends Felines shared that after having a lengthy discussion with Kelly and Louie, it was clear that they were committed to providing Amigo with the patience he needed. As a result, Amigo left his foster home and became part of their family, alongside his furry sibling Basil. Amigo quickly got comfortable with Basil’s presence and would often snuggle up with him, not minding personal boundaries like most cats do.
Basil and Amigo hit it off right away, and their friendship has quickly become unbreakable. It’s been heartwarming to see how well Basil has adjusted to his new home, and his new family is completely smitten with him. They’re especially thrilled to see how close he and Amigo have become – these two are definitely BFFs for life!
Amigo is inseparable from his companion and can be found trailing him throughout the entirety of their abode. Find out more about Best Friends Felines by checking out their Instagram account @bestfriendsfelines or their Facebook page. Don’t forget to share this heartwarming story with your pals!
