“Bully, the Resilient Rescue Dog, Marks 23rd Birthday with a Pawsitively Fun Party”

It’s a sad truth that dogs have shorter lifespans than humans, but some are fortunate enough to live long and happy lives. These senior dogs deserve to be celebrated and cherished, and one such lucky pup is Bully, a rescued Chihuahua who just turned 23 years old – an impressive feat in dog years. Bully’s previous owner was no longer able to care for him, and he was taken in by The Mr. Mo Project, a rescue organization that specializes in senior dogs. Bully has already lived a full life, but he’s now surrounded by love and care in his senior years.

As dogs become older, it can be difficult for them to adjust to new environments. This is particularly true for Bully or Bobo as he is commonly known, who is considered a “super senior” in dog years since he has lived longer than the average life expectancy of Chihuahuas. Despite the challenges, Bully has managed to settle into his new home and continue to thrive after spending two years in a rescue center.

Bully is a special dog at the rescue center, according to the owner Chris Hughes. He has multiple personalities that range from feisty to sweet, independent to gentle and calm. However, his old man bark stands out the most. Although he is now 23 years old, Bully still loves to push around one of the Chihuahuas in their care. He is the oldest resident of the rescue center but continues to enjoy life. When his birthday came around, the staff celebrated in style and shared it on Facebook. Bully was born on April 5, 1999, making him one of the few dogs to have lived through two different millennia. This is an incredible achievement that only a few dogs could dream of reaching. Despite the momentous occasion, Bully preferred a more low-key celebration.

Hughes stated that they fed the older dog a soft cookie since he has lost most of his teeth. They crumbled the cookie for the dog to enjoy. The dog enjoys sleeping, so they believe that this is the best gift they can give him. Chris and Mariesa Hughes founded the Mr. Mo Project, which rescues senior dogs. The couple’s inspiration to start the rescue came from caring for a 12-year-old dog named Moses. Moses was surrendered for being too old. The couple has spent more than $55,000 converting their home into a sanctuary for senior dogs. This way, these often-overlooked pets have a safe and loving place to call home during their final years.

In an interview with Insider, Chris revealed that he and his partner have other full-time jobs, but they take on The Mr. Mo Project as a passion project. Every penny of their expenses goes towards the initiative. It’s amazing to see Bully turn 23 years old, and we hope he has more happy years ahead. Let’s celebrate this milestone by sharing the news and sending him our best wishes on his birthday.
